External expert review: HeatWise Home does not currently publish named external expert reviewers. We are working toward adding independent review from qualified retrofit, heating, or building-energy professionals. Until then, users should treat our calculators and guides as educational planning tools and confirm decisions with official sources and qualified installers.
Medium confidence
Energy prices, grant rules, and installation costs change frequently. The figures on this page are planning ranges, not quotes. Always confirm your current tariff, delivered fuel price, installer scope, and eligibility in the named references linked below.
What affects installed cost
The equipment is only one part of the project. Radiator upgrades, cylinder changes, controls, electrical work, insulation, commissioning, and access can all affect the final quote.
Grant support may reduce upfront cost, but eligibility and values should be checked directly through SEAI heat pump system grant guidance.
Running cost example
If an Irish home needs 14,000 kWh of heat and an air source heat pump achieves SCOP 3.0, estimated heating electricity use is about 4,667 kWh.
Multiply that by your actual electricity price, then compare with your current oil, gas, or electric heating cost on a useful-heat basis.
